Lola Chihuahua Senior Female in Rochester, New York

My story
DOB: 8/26/11   This sweet girl is 10 years old and weighs in at barely 4 pounds. She needs a family willing to spend a lot of time with her because her favorite thing in the entire world is to be with her humans.    Lola came to us because her owner, a dear friend to GRASP, passed away. While she tolerates other dogs, she would do best with a passive senior friend because she’s incredibly fragile at her size and like a true Chihuahua - she likes to rule the roost! She’s lived with cats and birds. She would do best in a home with older children, again because of her size and vulnerability.    Lola was born with a cleft palate, but does not require surgery or additional care outside of feeding softened dry food. She is on daily pain medication for an old injury to her knee, caused by a child accidentally stepping on her. The injury does not require surgery and the medication is about $30 a month.    You may have also noticed Lola’s eyes. Her left eye is shrunken from an old dog bite. After discussion with our vet, we have decided not to remove it as she does not have any complications or pain from this - and with her size and age, surgery is a risk. Her right eye is larger because she is so tiny, her eye socket doesn’t have the normal space for it to sit into. She can see just fine!   Although Lola has a bit of baggage to bring with her, you can’t help but fall in love with her little wiggle butt the minute she sees you - someone new to pick her up and snuggle her for hours! Do you think you’re the right fit for Lola?May 20, 2022, 5:28 pm
